LOVE & FRIENDSHIP – Rated PG

Starring Kate Beckinsale, Chloe Sevigny, Xavier Samuel and Tom Bennett

Based on Jane Austen’s epistolary novel “Lady Susan” with aid from Writer and Director Whit Stillman, we meet the beautiful widow Lady Susan Vernon (Kate Beckingsale), is being forced to venture to the home of her brother in-law, as a means to deflect the viscous rumors spinning all about, regarding the married man Lord Manwaring (Lochlann O’Mearain) and Lady Susan’s whereabouts…

While extending her visit much longer than either her sister-in-law or brother-in-law intended, Lady Susan befriends the much younger, and very beguiling Reginald DeCourcy (Xavier Samuel).

As fate would have it, Lady Susan’s daughter Frederica (Morfydd Clark) is forced to return to her Aunt and Uncles abode as well, causing Lady Susan to expedite her securing a man of substance for herself, and one to secure her daughter’s future too…

I give LOVE & FRIENDSHIP a rating of MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN ~ I can’t remember the last time I saw a period piece of this magnitude visually, that expelled such hilariously comedic lines and anecdotes, all at the same time. Beckinsale is not only breathtakingly beautiful, but also picturesquely perfect as Lady Susan, and the impeccable casting of the mesmerizingly handsome O’Mearain and Samuel, as her two suitors, made for one enjoyable viewing experience too. Mark my words, not only will you laugh so much more than you ever thought possible, but you will also be captivated by the beautiful costumes, exquisite scenery and handsome gentleman all the way through ~ and all in 92 minutes too ~ forcing me to insist that seeing LOVE & FRIENDSHIP at a theater near you this weekend is an absolute MUST!!!
