ANT MAN – Rated PG-13 – MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

ANT MAN MOVIE POSTER

It’s not about saving our world. It’s about saving THEIRS.”

MARVEL brings to life their next INCREDIBLE SUPER HERO~ only this time he can transform to the size of an insect ~ perfect, unless he gets stepped on ~ as we learn the backstory and the transformation that ensues to turn a regular guy and father into ~ THE ANT MAN!!!

Ex-con Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is bound and determined to stay out of jail, so that he can see his adorable daughter Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson) since his release, and try to mend his relationship with his ex-wife Maggie (Judy Greer).

When his fellow cons Luis (Michael Pena), Kurt (David Dastmalchian), and Dave (T.I.) stumble across a home with a safe ~ they are hoping this heist will yield enough cash for them all to start new lives ~ So Scott leads their team, only to find that his safe cracking expertise is all for naught, when the safe contains nothing but an ANT SUIT…

Doing what ALL GUYS MUST DO when they run across a Super Hero suit lying around – TRY IT ON – Scott is immediately thrust into the life of Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and his beautiful daughter Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), who are combating the evil forces of Dr. Pym’s colleague and past assistant, Dr. Darren Cross (Corey Stoll). Cross thinks that he can replicate Pym’s formula for producing the ANT MAN, with his alternative INSECT MILITANT – the YELLOWJACKET…

Torn with facing life back “on the inside” or fulfilling his destiny and saving his daughter’s world from peril as the ANT MAN, Lang must choose his path and learn to live with THE CONSEQUENCES, yet to be determined, from this decision…

I give ANT MAN 4 out of 5 stars: The backstory this time around is very enjoyable, as we learn how a regular guy, not so big in stature, can access the power to go up against the likes of fellow Marvel super hero – the FALCON (Antony Mackie) as so much more. Douglas and Lilly are awesome as the Pym father/daughter team, trying to save our world from the mean and ruthless Darren Cross/Yellowjacket ~ and the casting of COREY STOLL to play this role ~ was perfect too, as he is absolutely superb playing someone so EVIL AND SINISTER ~ who knew! Plus, throughout a lot of this film you feel like you have traveled back in time to the days of HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS – which turned out to be fun and put a smile on my face as well. And, just like MARVEL Is notorious for doing with almost all of it’s films – don’t forget to stay till the very end of the credits ~ You can’t leave after the FIRST TEASER, as there is a SECOND TEASER at the very end of the credits that will lead you down the road of what MARVEL has in store for our newest SUPER HERO…and you definitely don’t want to miss out on that little tidbit of information, now do you!
