Now that everyone has had a chance to digest the Nominations from this morning…….There were a few BIG SHOCKERS for me, and probably for all movie lovers everywhere, but before we get to those – lets get to the most important info:   WHO RECEIVED THE MOST OSCAR NOMINATIONS THIS YEAR:

BIRDMAN –  9 Nominations
GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL – 9 Nominations
IMITATION GAME –  8 Nominations
AMERICAN SNIPER –  6 Nomimations
BOYHOOD – 6 Nominations

I was also pleasantly surprised – which is always good – that the following received nominations:

  • SELMA (Best Picture)
  • Bradley Cooper (Best Actor – AMERICAN SNIPER
  • Marion Cotillard (Best Actress – TWO DAYS, ONE NIGHT
  • Laura Dern (Best Supporting Actress – WILD
  • Paul Thomas Anderson (Best Adapted Screenplay – INHERENT VICE
  • Glen Campbell (Best Song – “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” – I’LL BE ME

The two biggest surprises for movies that got snubbed this year for me were:

  • The LEGO MOVIE NOT BEING Nominated for BEST ANIMATED FEATURE
  • LIFE ITSELF NOT BEING Nominated for BEST DOCUMENTARY

& I couldn’t believe that these DIRECTORS were snubbed either – as their work was SUPERB…

BEST DIRECTOR SNUBS

  • Ava DuVernay – BEST DIRECTOR – SELMA
  • Clint Eastwood – BEST DIRECTOR – AMERICAN SNIPER

I was also very surprised that after she received a GOLDEN GLOBE NOD FOR BEST ACTRESS, that she was snubbed for an OSCAR NOD:

Jennifer Aniston – CAKE

& that after winning the GOLDEN GLOBE for BEST ACTRESS I was TOALLY SURPRISED that this actress didn’t get a nomination either :

Amy Adams =  BIG EYES

These BEST ACTOR SNUBS surprised me too:

David Oyelowo – SELMA

Jake Gyllenhaal – NIGHTCRAWLER

Ralph FIennes – GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL

Surprised by this too – BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY SNUB

Gillian Flynn – GONE GIRL

& I thought for sure that these three films would make the cut for BEST PICTURE: BEST PICTURE SNUBS
