As we venture back into the life of our favorite Assassin John Wick (Keanu Reeves), we are picking up exactly where we left off, as now a bounty of 14 million is on his head, as he tries to evade every other assassin in the world, as they all plan on taking him out, for this once in a lifetime, major payout…
I give JOHN WICK 3: PARABELLUM a rating between MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN and WAIT AND CATCH THIS 3rd INSTALLMENT ON DVD. Action packed, and totally intense, as usual…John Wick 3 brings back our Favorite Assassin bar-none, along with our favorites from movies past, and a few new friends along the way this time too, including the beautiful and talented Halle Berry. Reeves is still kicking ass and taking names, as I mean, what else would John Wick be doing…but this next installment does lack the in-depth storyline I have come to love ~ which really surprised me ~ as we have not one, but four writers on the project this time around. I also found myself not as quite engaged this time with the action sequences, as it seemed that these scenes too just felt incredibly redundant and mind-numbing after a while, which also surprised me, since we have Stahelski directing this one again too. Don’t get me wrong, Reeves is still my favorite Assassin, and I was totally pumped to be seeing the advanced screening, it just felt as though the third time around didn’t hit the mark for me, as I had hoped it would. With that said, I totally enjoyed seeing McShane and Fishburne back for more in the crazy World of Wick, and I was super stoked too to see Lance Reddick…aka Charon, get a lot more action this time around! Sadly, I just felt this third installment couldn’t hold a candle story wise or action wise to the other two previous action-packed thrillers…
And in case you weren’t sure about the name of this film – The word parabellum is very apropos said in conjunction with our favorite assassin, as in Latin it means ~ PREPARE FOR WAR!
