“If you LOVE YOUR DOG as much as I, then DOG DAYS is your MUST SEE FILM this weekend!” Kathy Kaiser, Matinee Chat
DOG DAYS – Rated PG – 1 hr. 52 mins
Director: Ken Marino
Writers: Elissa Matsueda, Erica Oyama
Starring: Vanessa Hudgens, Eva Longoria, Rob Corddry, Tone Bell, Jon Bass, Nina Dobrev, and Finn Wolfhard,
As we venture into the “Dog Days of Summer” with our numerous fun-loving canines, and owners too this time around ~ it seems that Anchorwoman Elizabeth (Nina Dobrev), seems to need her pooch’s therapist (Tig Notaro) a little more than her canine companion, as her co-anchor, and ex-NFL Star Jimmy (Tone Bell), has become more than she can handle. And when Barista Tara (Jennifer Hudgens), has an unexpected encounter with a new furry friend, this new pooch in her life is about to not only change her career path, but her love life too it seems. And when we meet expectant Mom Ruth (Jessica St. Clair), it seems that she’s not going to be able to take care of her bundles of joy, and her large and rambunctious doggy too, so she reaches out to musician brother Dax (Adam Pally) to take care of the “first love of her life”. And lest we not forget the angst that comes from losing a pet, and finding one too – as new Mom (Eva Longoria) and Dad (Rob Corddry) lives conjoin with pizza delivery boy Tyler (Finn Wolfhard) and retired English Professor (Ron Cephas Jones) over a single canine companion…proving that dogs truly do touch everyone’s soul, all in due time…
I give DOG DAYS a rating of MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN! Between the perfectly written conjoining storylines, the adorable canines throughout, and the perfectly cast ensemble of actors – DOG DAYS is one of the those touching, and comedic films that you truly don’t want to miss. Director Ken Marino did a fabulous job of bringing writer Elissa Matsueda’s work to life, as this feel good film, doesn’t leave one dry eye in the house, for quite a few scenes throughout this film. And even though its rated PG for language and suggestive content, this film garnered a clapping audience when it was all through, from both the young, and more mature viewers alike. Suffice to say if you’re a dog lover, and you enjoy fresh and fun-loving films that your whole family will enjoy, then DOG DAYS has got to be your MUST SEE FILM this weekend at a theater near you, and with your entire family in tow!!!
