Gotham City’s Dark Knight has taken on a new roll in life, and a new shape, as we meet Lego Batman (Will Arnett), who is trying to save Gotham yet again from his arch nemesis, the wise cracking, and totally C-R-A-Z-Y Joker (Zach Galifianakis).
Forced to face his own existence, Batman comes to the realization that he just might need someone else, besides his gracious butler/father figure Alfred Pennyworth (Ralph Fiennes) in his life…Enter orphan Dick Grayson/Robin (Michael Cera), who is more than determined to fulfill the lives of both Bruce Wayne & Batman, if they’ll only give him a chance!!!
When Gotham comes under a full fledged BAD GUY attack, Batman must pull together his own team of vigilantes from his past, and his present…including Batgirl/ Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson) ~ to make sure that the city THEY ALL LOVE, doesn’t buckle under this attack…
I give THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE a rating of MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN! ~ Even though I ended up not loving this LEGO MOVIE as much as I did the first, it still brings that “POW – POW” to the screen that we all know and love. From the Batman nostalgia that is built into almost each and every frame ~ we even reference all the way back to Batman’s terrible television days…to the “importance of family” storyline built throughout, this film is not only hilarious and heartwarming, but also family friendly the whole way through! And nothing brings more joy to my life than hearing youngsters enjoying a film made for them, and that is just what happened during the advanced screening of this film, as all the the little ones sitting around us literally giggled the whole way through too!! Arnett manages to bring to life “a new kind of BATMAN” that you won’t soon forget! So gather the family and make a point to see THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE at a theater near you this weekend ~ because waiting to catch this one on DVD, just won’t give THIS BATMAN, the justice he deserves!!!
