Based on the real-life story and union between Mildred (Ruth Negga), a black woman and her beloved Richard Loving (Joel Edgerton), a white man, and the adversity they face just for LOVING one another.
Thrown in jail as the response from the law to their union, Mildred and Richard are forced to leave their families and move north. When Mildred decides enough is enough, she embarks upon a way to save her family, and her marriage, from the racism, bigotry and hatred the still consumes their home state of Virginia many years later…
I give LOVING a rating of MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN: Negga and Edgerton are perfect as the biracial couple fighting for their right to be together, regardless of the color of their skin! Torn from the pages of real-life, this story is both touching and maddening all at the same time, as you watch these two people struggle to be keep their lives together, while facing such adversity. It’s hard to believe in this day and age; that 58 years ago, biracial marriage is this country was taboo! LOVING is one of those films that will touch your heart and your soul way before all the credits roll, leading me to suggest that you wonder to a theater near you to catch the fabulous performances throughout this film. And please let everyone in the family over the age of 13 enjoy it right along with you, as this film is enlightening to our countries past struggles in race relations, while sharing too, what some people will do, all in the name of LOVE!!!
