As we venture into the 5th installment of this chilly Franchise ~ Skrat (Chris Wedge) has managed to make it into outer space, with his acorn in tow…thus causing a cosmic reaction of epic proportions.
Back on earth, Manny (Ray Romano) and Ellie (Queen Latifah) are trying to come to terms with the fact that their daughter Peaches (Keke Palmer) has fallen for, and is planning to marry the irresponsible, yet very funny Julian (Adam Devine).
To make matters even worse…if they can get any worse than your only daughter getting married ~ it seems that a meteor is about to end their world as they know it…but, with a little help from friends both old ~ and new ~ Manny may just be able to save his entire herd from extinction…
I give ICE AGE: COLLISION COURSE a rating of WAIT AND CATCH THIS FILM ON DVD OR NETFLIX: Even though it was great to hear Romano, Leguizamo, Leary and Latifah back at it again, I just wasn’t sold on having to see this one on the big screen. The storyline is cute enough – Daddy doesn’t want to let his daughter go, Daughter tries to show she is AN ADULT…you get the picture, but neither the storyline or the animation wowed me at any turn. Is it cute and funny for the kids? Yes – for the little ones were laughing all the way through, and there are a few jokes for the adults in the room too, but is this 5th installment of ICE AGE worth paying the price of admission at a theater near you? That is going to have to be your call…as I would suggest dropping the $20 bucks on the DVD instead in a few weeks, and then the kiddos (especially the smaller ones) can catch it numerous times on your little screen at home, that is unless you are looking for a way to keep the kiddos entertained and cool as the summer comes to a close, and this film will do both those things, all at the same time 😉
