NOW YOU SEE ME 2 – Rated PG-13

Starring Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Lizzy Caplan

As the magical geniuses THE FOUR HORSEMEN – J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo), Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson), Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) join forces yet again, it seems that a young woman with magical powers named Lula (Lizzy Caplan) wants to join their little band of illusionists now too…

As our team tries to expose a new tech company for the mean and evil villains that they are, tech prodigy Walter Mabry (Danielle Radcliff) is going to have the last laugh, as he highjacks the Horsemen, and forces them to use their magic on his behalf.

But don’t count our boys out, not just yet; as our illusions have grown since the last time we met, thus adding fuel to their attempt to outwit not only Mabry, but his crazy daddy Arthur (Michael Cain) too…

I give NOW YOU SEE ME 2 a rating between MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN and WAIT AND CATCH IT ON DVD ~ Even though our next adventure with our favorite HORSEMAN starts out a little slow, once we get this next installment going, it turns into a full out illusional masterpiece! Freeman is fab, Ruffalo is too, and even Franco and Harrelson are enjoyable to watch all the way through. And thank goodness we brought in some female prowess this time, as Caplan is a welcomed addition to all that testosterone on screen, and the addition of Radcliffe and Cain as the bad guys plays out quite nicely as well. The only pause for me comes from Eisenberg’s performance, which seems to be nothing more than what we have seen from him since his portrayal as Mark Zuckerberg in THE SOCIAL NETWORK – which is too bad, as he always leaves me hoping for something new and exciting to arrive is his portrayals, but sadly, it just never arrives. So, if you loved NOW YOU SEE ME, you have to check out NYSM2 in a theater near you, as it plays out just as good as the first, and besides, you have to keep up with what’s happening with our favorite “boys of magic”, as the third installment in this franchise has already been announced, and you don’t want to get behind…
