MONEY MONSTER – Rated R

Starring George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O’Connell

With Jodie Foster in the Directors chair ~ we meet Financial Advisor/TV Host Lee Gates (George Clooney) and his producer Patty (Julie Roberts), as they embark on yet another show, with Gates telling his viewers exactly where to put their hard earned cash to increase it’s flow…

When a disgruntled investor by the name of Kyle (Jack O’Connell) appears on the set ~ It seems that Gates directive to invest in a new venture company turned out to be a bust, as Kyle has now lost every penny he ever had…

As Patty tries to keep Kyle occupied, she goes into protective mode, trying to save her staff, and to keep her favorite host, ALIVE.

With no time to waste, Patty convinces Lee to do what he does best… talking Kyle down out of the trees, and hoping to save both their lives, as now, the cops are moving in…

Patty desperately tries to work all the angles to get Kyle the answers he is searching for – most importantly – what happened to all his money, in this crazy world of high-tech global trading…

I give MONEY MONSTER a rating between MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN and WAIT AND CATCH IT ON DVD ~ Once again the trailer doesn’t do this film justice, as I was expecting a see so-so flic going in, when in reality, it turned out to be very entertaining. Clooney is good, Roberts is too, and O’Connell is absolutely superb, playing the investor who has lost everything, and is going to make Clooney pay with his life, for Kyle’s losses. I was also pleasantly surprised by the plot twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, and the fact that there was a lot more humor throughout I wasn’t expecting either, leading me to suggest that if you are looking for a film that will catch you by surprise, and is quite enjoyable to view, then you might want to catch this one on a big screen near you this weekend, but if not, you’ll be okay waiting to catch Clooney and Roberts together again, when MONEY MONSTER breaks on DVD too!!!
