As I’ve been watching old 90’s sitcoms it seems like FOREVER, as I longed for the Studios, and I mean any studio, to bring to the screen a romantic comedy to ease my woes of everyday life.
Well, leave it to Amazon Studios to final ease my woes, and just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend too, but there is a catch with this one, you will have to have the Amazon streaming service to view it…
Now, if your angry at me already for announcing the little catch in the viewing spectrum for this sweet and adorable little film, that you can only view on your television at home, please bear with me as I share my thoughts anyway, just in case you want to know…
Most of us have had to endure the excruciating pain of a breakup at some point in our lives, right? Well, this is just where we meet sweet guy Peter (Charlie Day), as his 6-year relationship goes bye – bye, when the love of his life, Anne (Gina Rodriguez), calls it quits…
Across town, as dinner unfolds, Emma (Jenny Slate) is so smitten by her super-healthy boyfriend Noah (Scott Eastwood), that she is totally oblivious, and then totally blown away from his decision to move on into greener pastures.
Devistated and reeling from their relationship implosions, a chance encounter brings these two heart-broken lost souls together, as they wail and wain to one another, on how is the best way to rekindle their previous relationships, so they can get the loves of their lives back…
Now, hold on tight as the plot thickens, as the plan the plan that they devise a plan is going to take a little more time than either of them expected…
Agonizing together does bring a few benefits into play though, as Peter and Emma find solace in one another’s company, just the same…
And as they say, when absence makes the heart grow fonder, it’s seems that “the perfect plan” just might work out…but when you look closely at what’s all happening in both of their lives, are their dreams of love and romance coming together as they had hoped…really?

I give I WANT YOU BACK a rating of 3.5 out of 5: You don’t know how happy I was to get the opportunity to view a real, classic style romantic comedy, FINALLY! Charlie Day and Jenny Slate are super together, as they finally realize what “real love” is all about! I mean, who would have thought that I would want to see someone with Charlie Day, instead of Scott Eastwood, but that is exactly where I found myself, as I viewed this film! I also loved the fact that the side stories throughout, and the new relationships that transpire too, feel totally real, and pretty believable too. And the most important thread for me in my favorite Rom-Coms throughout the years is that, when it comes right down to it, having someone support your dreams, while they look beyond all the flaws you have, literally makes for the best relationship flicks ever, and that my friends, is exactly what we have here! So, If you are wanting to stay in this Valentine’s Day to catch a Rom/Com that will touch you heart and soul, if you let it, with some pretty adorable characters throughout, then spring for the Amazon Prime subscription if you don’t already have it, and make plans to nestle in all cozy like, so you can watch Day and Slate totally make your weekend!
