LITTLE – Rated PG-13 – 1 hr, 49 mins.
DIRECTOR: Tina Gordon
WRITERS: Tracy Oliver, Tina Gordon
STARS: Regina Hall, Marsai Martin, Issa Rae, Tracee Ellis Ross, Tone Bell, Mikey Day, and Luke James
Facing a childhood that’s sullied with bullies is hard, especially for Jordan Sanders (Regina Hall / Marsai Marin), and it seems that once you hit adulthood, and achieve your own success, you become one of those nasty bullies too, like to your assistant April (Issa Rae), and everyone else “taking up space “in your life along the way…
But when a magical curse is cast in your direction…it seems your worst nightmare has just come true, as you are forced to live through those very painful Jr. High days, ONE – MORE – TIME…
I give LITTLE a rating of DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY: Well, you know from the trailer going in, that this premise, and storyline has been done many, many times before…and even the way that Writers Tracy Oliver and Tina Gordon portrayed the characters throughout too – you are absolutely in for NOTHING NEW. I mean, LITTLE is so reminiscent of the films THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA(2006) for Halls nasty and demeaning ways, mixed with a big dose of 13 GOING ON 30,(2004) a pinch of 17 AGAIN(2009) and a smidge of BIG(1988) too, you are totally feeling, “been here, seen that”. I really wanted to give this film a better review, as I adore Hall, and Issa Rae and Marsai Martin put it all out there on screen, giving us performances that were not only funny, but enjoyable to view, but you just can’t get beyond this overdone premise of a film, to totally let yourself become immersed in their performances. I really wish that these three actresses would be cast together in another film, with an original script, as the much needed chemistry between them is totally there, as is the chemistry for both Hall and Rae’s love interests within in the film as well (played by Luke James and Tone Bell respectively), but it still doesn’t put a dent in the feeling that you have seen this type of film a millions times before , as you find yourself just wanting it to be over….enough said…

Heard of any of these movies? LITTLE should sound familiar to you because it is once again another body switching movie where a person starts off as a dick, turns into either their adult self or childhood self or some kind of animal they hate, hijinks ensue, they realize they actually were a dick, they sacrifice their one chance to turn back into their old self by being unselfish for the first time in their life, they learn an obvious lesson of kindness and then finally turn back into their former self.
A woman is transformed into her younger self at a point in her life when the pressures of adulthood become too much to bear.
