Kathy vs. T.K.’s view of JURASSIC WORLD : FALLEN KINGDOM – Rated PG-13

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

“Remember, these creatures were here before us and if we’re not careful, they are going to be here after…welcome to Jurassic World..” ~ Dr. Ian Malcolm

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM – Rated PG-13 – 2 hrs. 8 mins.

Director:  J.A. Bayona

Writers:  Derek Connolly & Colin Trevorrow

Starring:  Jeff Goldblum, Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, James Cromwell, Toby Jones, BD Wong, Isabella Sermon

As we venture back into Jurassic World, it seems the volcano that its built on is about to erupt, once again taking out these genetically formulated Dinosaurs from this earth…

Leading the team to save them from extinction is none other than our heroin from the 4th installment, the beautiful and brainy Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), at the request of multimillionaire, and dinosaur lover himself Benjamin Lockwood (James Cromwell).  And what’s a girl to do without the “Dino Whisperer” to help her on her quest…as she convinces Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) to assist her in getting these incredible creatures off the island, and to a safe, tranquil environment where they can thrive…and more importantly, not become extinct from this earth again, before their time…

I give JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM a rating between MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN and WAIT AND CATCH THIS FILM ON DVD!  Well, keep in mind that this is the 5th installment for this franchise ~ and with that said ~ they have tried very hard to keep the feel and integrity of this particular franchise ALIVE AND WELL, and Universal definitely deserves kudos for that.  It was also nice seeing our hero and heroin from Jurassic World back on the big screen, although I felt that this time around, Pratt wasn’t at his best, as it seemed he was just going through the motions all throughout this film L  Maybe he was filming as his marriage was falling apart, maybe he prefers playing the role of Star Lord ~ I’m not really sure what the issues were ~ all I know is that he is way better than he put down for this film.  I wasn’t totally sold on this particular storyline either (I’m leaving it at that to avoid any spoilers) – as I’m sure the people in Hawaii are feeling that this storyline might be a little close to home for them at the present too! And I must also caution the parents this time around – please heed the PG-13 rating, as this particular Jurassic film is particularly graphic and scary, made even more profound by young actress Isabella Sermon’s blood curdling scream! Although, I was super excited to see Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) back this time around, even though I wish that he would have gotten a lot more screen time than he did.  And seeing BD Wong back, and adding Rafe Spall this time around, did make for some very enjoyable scenes all throughout this film.  All-in-all, if you have loved the Jurassic films from the start, then you have no choice but to head out this weekend and catch JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM at a theater near you.  But, if you are in hopes that this one will be better than its predecessor, well, I wouldn’t go that far either…which may cause you to want to wait and catch this latest installment when it hits on DVD. But I must also share too, that this film it’s definitely better than the 3rd installment, by far! J And please don’t forget to stay past the credits too…because you don’t want to miss what’s lurking at the very end of this film either…

JURASSIC WORLD:  FALLEN KINGDOM  – Rated PG-13  – 2 hr. 8 mins

Director by:  J. A. Bayona

Cast:  Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Toby Jones, Jeff Goldblum, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith

The Jurassic World theme park and it’s remaining dinosaurs have been abandoned to deal with an erupting volcano that will destroy every living thing on the island, unless the rest of the world decides to save the dinosaurs once again from extinction.

THIS SEGMENT HAS NO SPOILERS – JUST DINOSAURS

The Jurassic Park franchise has always been one of my favorites.  I really do love all the movies, even though JP2 & JP3 are not what you would consider “amazing films”, they still had some very exciting action and loads of heart.  But the problem with both of those films was that each of their storylines were weak, which started me down the path of losing interest in the series, but lucky for me…that’s when JURASSIC WORLD introduced itself to me and my love for the franchise was rejuvenated.  After that film, I was ready for the sequel and JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM did not disappoint me at all. This movie had me tucked back as far into my theater seat as I could possibly go with all of the jump scares and “Raptor-Moments” we’ve had throughout the series.

Rap·tor(ˈraptər)-Mo·ment (ˈmōmənt) – noun;  This is a word made up by T.K. Edwards meaning any part in the JURASSIC PARK movies where a dinosaur (usually raptors) “pop up” out of nowhere and scare the balls out of you.  You usually know these parts because you’ve stopped breathing, you’re heart is pounding and you’re saying “oh shit” to yourself.

The moment JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM begins, you’ve buckled up for a ride in what feels like a rollercoaster of a movie.  The film takes you up slowly with a solid story, sends you screaming down with some very good acting, jerks you back and forth with thrilling suspense and finally turns you upside down over & over with crazy action.  I really enjoyed the first JURASSIC WORLD and I never believed they could come close to making a sequel with as much action as that one, but JURASSIC WORLD 2 comes close to beating its predecessor. And the special effects in this film are beyond what a viewing audience can prepare themselves for.  They… Are… INCREDIBLE!!! We have come a looooooong way since the first JURASSIC PARK and it is exciting to see what these filmmakers can do with CGI. I highly suggest you go see JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM in the theaters, it’s worth every penny of your purchased ticket, but if you need two more reasons to go see this movie, then here they are…1) Jeff… 2) Goldblum (LOL)!!!  Nuff Said? – Nuff Said. Until next time, thanks for reading.

P.S. – Stick around after the credits.  There’s one post credit scene. You’re Welcome!
