THIS SEGMENT WILL BE SPOILER FREE … I PROMISE…I LOVE STAR WARS TOO.

If I had to describe SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY in one word it would be…FUN!!! Man, I needed this movie to be good. After having my childhood heart broken by LAST JEDI and having FORCE AWAKENS story then ruined by Episode 8..I’ll repeat…I NEEDED THIS MOVIE TO BE GOOD!!! Thank you Ron Howard for taking over the reigns of this film and making such an enjoyable movie bring back the kid in me. This was exactly what I needed to get back into loving STAR WARS again. I think that’s because J.J. Abrams took one of my most beloved characters away from me, which i was NOT upset about because it made for a great story and was the only thing that was needed to move the current trilogy in a new direction (cough…Rian…rolling tear down my cheek). But then…from out of nowhere, Mr. Ron Howard (Captain BACKDRAFT, Mr. GRINCH, the CINDERELLA MAN himself, swooped in and gave him back to me (Birthday wishes really do come true everyone…you’re welcome…LOL). His vision was terrific. His tone was outstanding. And his direction was exactly what this story needed. Ron Howard was the perfect choice for directing SOLO and he did something i never thought could be possible…Ron Howard gave me back the Han Solo I haven’t seen since Episode 4! This time Solo’s sarcasm, subtle humor, and conceited charm was being performed by Alden Ehrenreich who didn’t let me down either. If I had one criticism though, it would be that it took him awhile to get into character. At the beginning he was just Alden, but then came the addition of one of my other favorite characters of all time…based on George Lucas’s dog named Indiana…none other than…da dada daaaaa…CHEWBACCA!!! Arrr(rolling L’s)rrrrrr!!! The moment Chewy joined Han the movie just took off with loads of action, comedy and heart. This movie would not have worked if these two characters’ chemistry didn’t pour out onto the silver screen. You had to believe they were friends and that they were having these conversations that only they could understand. Seeing them together is what makes this movie great! Push aside all the action (which SOLO has everything you want and more), all the comedy (this movie has some hilarious moments), all the other characters (Donald Glover was made to play Lando Calrissian) and all the easter eggs (there are soooo many easter eggs and fans are going to go out of their minds by what they bear witness to), this movie will always come back to Han Solo and Chewbacca being on screen together doing the things we only heard them talk about in the original trilogy. SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY is a fun ride from beginning to end and deserves a sequel as soon as possible. Go see this one in the theaters and wash out the LAST JEDI taste in your mouth. I don’t look forward to the new episodes anymore, but because of SOLO & ROGUE ONE I am now officially looking forward to just all the stand alone STAR WARS films. Until next time, thanks for reading.
