TULLY – Rated R – 1 hr. 36 mins.

Director:  Jason Reitman

Writer:  Diablo Cody

Starring:  Charlize Theron, Mackenzie Davis, Ron Livingston, Mark Duplass, Lia Frankland and Asher Miles Fallica

As we meet the beautiful, (Charlize Theron), she is about to give birth to child #3, and is totally stressed out, as she is trying to deal with the issues her son Jonah (Asher Miles-Fallica) is having in school.

When her brother Craig (Mark Duplass) offers to secure a Night Nanny, in hopes that it will help Marlo get some semblance of “a normal life” back, but Marlo isn’t totally sold on the idea of someone else helping to raise her newborn…

But, when Marlo finally gives in, and allows Tully (Mackenzie Davis) to come into their lives…it seems that a few good night’s sleep, a little help around the house, and the chance to spend some quality time with hubby Drew (Ron Livingston), uninterrupted, might be a better scenario than even Marlo could imagine…

I give TULLY a rating of MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN – and by EVERY MOTHER on this PLANET TOO!!!  This film totally shows the assorted dismays of motherhood – and with an in your face bluntness, that is not only unsettling at times, but is also undeniably real and moving.  Theron’s performance is award worthy every step of the way, and I am in hopes that her performance in this film doesn’t get lost come awards season, as it is definitely worthy of one or two along the way.  Mackenzie Davis is also perfectly cast as the nanny, bringing her warmth, humor and vulnerability in aiding Marlo the necessary support she needs to get her, and her family’s life back on track.  Add in the perfectly orchestrated roles by Livingston, Duplass and young actors Lia Frankland and Asher Mies Fallica, and you have one film that will take you into through the trials and tribulations of life ~ and motherhood ~ like you have never experienced them before.  I must also share with all of you that, even though I pride myself on usually knowing exactly where a film’s storyline is headed, TULLY is actually one of those rare films that totally caught me off guard, with a plot twist that I never saw coming, and mark my words, this one is as unexpected as they come…thus making TULLY ~ THE MUST-SEE FILM on THE BIG SCREEN at a theater near you this weekend!
