BEFORE I FALL – Rated PG-13

Starring Zoe Deutch, Halston Sage, Logan Miller, Elena Kampouris, Erica Tremblay and Jennifer Beals

Living a perfect life in High School, we meet Samantha Kingston (Zoey Deutch), and her girlfriends, making their way, without a care in the world.

When a freak accident occurs, Samantha finds herself living what might have been her last day, over and over again. Lost and confused on why she must keep living this one day over and over again, Samantha finds solace in rekindling old friendships, and realizing how important it is to treat her little sister Izzy (Erica Tremblay), and her mom (Jennifer Beals) much nicer, than she has been in the past.

Still caught in this loop of eternal damnation, it seems that Sam must get her girlfriends to change their mean and nasty ways too, as she finds herself even reaching out to help old friend Juliet (Elena Kampouris), who seems to also be caught up in her own kind of hell…

I give BEFORE I FALL a rating of WAIT AND CATCH THIS FILM ON DVD or NETFLIX. Even though the premise is this film is rather touching at times, I found that it wasn’t a storyline or premise that I haven’t experienced before in such films as MEAN GIRLS, and/or GROUNDHOG DAY as well. Deutch is good, Sage and Beals are too, and little Erica Tremblay is as talented and adorable as her big brother Jacob was in last years film ROOM. Although, even with all that cuteness and okay performances throughout, this film doesn’t play out as a MUST SEE on the BIG SCREEN for me, leaving me to suggest that you catch the poignant message of this film for the preteens and teens that its geared towards on DVD or streaming, in just a few weeks from now.
