FIST FIGHT – Rated R – 1 hr. 31 mins. – MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
Starring Charlie Day, Ice Cube, Tracy Morgan, Jillian Bell, Christina Hendricks and Dean Norris
Director Richie Keen from “IT”S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA” takes on one of his star pupils ~ Charlie Day ~ from that series, to direct him now for the big screen too…so lets settle in to see who wins the after school fight between teachers this time, instead of the students…this is FIST FIGHT!!!
Making his way through life as a father, husband and awesome High School English Teacher, we meet Andy Campbell (Charlie Day) on the last day of school, with pranks happening to him all throughout his day…
When no-nonsense and total badass teacher Strickland (Ice Cube) hits the scene, the students, and his fellow teachers all scatter, as you don’t mess with this dude!!!
When Strickland looses his temper, and Campbell is the only witness to his craziness first hand, it seems that Principal Tyler isn’t letting either of them out of his office, till someone tells him EXACTLY what just happened…
Evaluating the cruelty that will be coming his way from Strickland, whether he narks or not, Campbell finally caves in order to save his own career, unknowing that he has just unleashed a furry of epic proportions…as Campbell finds himself challenged to an after school FIST FIGHT by this mad man! Question is…Is there anyway to get out of this mess? Or does Campbell have no other choice, than to take it like a man???
I give FIST FIGHT a rating of WAIT AND CATCH THIS FILM ON DVD or NETFLIX – Okay, if you love ICE CUBE or CHARLIE DAY, regardless what I say, you are heading out the theaters this weekend to see this film in its entirety, which is perfectly OK! But, if you are wanting to know if you should drop $12 to see this funny little film unfold…I’m telling you that my feeling on that matter is ~ I wouldn’t ~ because even though there are a few parts of this film that are funny and enjoyable to view, much of this film is just filled with adult humor, to get from point A to point B, with the impending adult FIST FIGHT dilemma, you see. Is it Funny? Yes. Is it extremely funny? NO! Bottom line on this film for me… ~ It’s short, it’s funny, and I never realized how scary ICE CUBE could truly be, and the talent show scene is pure genius as a non-violent way to smash out those bullies, that might be messing up your day, But if I was going to view this film again, I would really want to enjoy FIST FIGHT on my TV or computer screen.
