As we meet over-protective daddy Ned Flemming (Bryan Cranston), he is heading off with wife Barb (Megan Mullally) and son Scott (Griffin Gluck) to visit his only daughter Stephanie (Zoey Deutch) at college in California…

Excited to see her, but totally confused at her choice in boyfriends once they meet the multi-tattooed, billionaire Laird Mayhew (James Franco), Ned has to figure out a way to stop this relationship, as Laird is definitely not the guy for her…

Now caught between his negative feelings for Laird, and his daughter’s emotional well being as “she loves him” ~ what’s a father to do? ~ But to bring an end to this relationship before it’s too late! Especially now, as to complicate things even further, Laird wants to ask for her hand in marriage ~ ;(

I give WHY HIM a rating between MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN and WAIT AND CATCH THIS FILM ON DVD: I’m sure all the father’s with daughters reading this can relate, as it’s hard to let your babies go, especially to someone not worthy in your eyes. But even with that premise, the trailer for this film had me expecting to rate this film much lower, as I thought, “the cheese of it all would be overwhelming”. Surprisingly though, once I started to view, I was intrigued to have found it all rather amusing, who knew? Franco is hilarious, Cranston is as well, and Mullully and Deutch do us ladies proud the whole way through too!! From the cameo’s that show up all along the way, to Keegan Michael Key bringing his own awesomeness to this film, I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed WHY HIM the whole way through!!

So if you want to have a laugh over the holidays this year, then head out to catch WHY HIM at a theater near you. But, if dropping some cash for just a few laughs doesn’t seem to appeal, then you’ll be okay waiting to catch this one on DVD, a few weeks into the New Year as well…
