The 9th LIFE OF LOUIS DRAX – Rated PG-13

Starring Jamie Dornan, Aiden Longworth, Sarah Gadon and Aaron Paul

Based on the novel by the same name written by Liz Jensen, we meet Louis (Aiden Longworth), a peculiar boy who is apparently destined to be one of the clumsiest children EVER, having survived many a mishap in his young life.

When Louis’s latest accident almost takes his life ~ and leaves him a coma~ his doting mother Natalie (Sarah Gadon) seeks out the assistance of Dr. Allan Pascal (Jamie Dornan), who runs a clinic for those with traumatic head injuries, hoping that he can help her ailing son.

As Dr. Pascal very quickly gets involved in Louis’s case trying to decipher what actually happened to land him in his present state, it seems that his mother is more than willing to share all the details with the good Dr., while making unsolicited advances too.

While Dr. Pascal tries to make sense of the strange images and dreams that he keeps having regarding Louis, and Louis’s father Peter (Aaron Paul) too, he must decide if what is happening to him is actual direct communication from his patient in a coma, or is it all just a figment of his overactive imagination???

I give THE 9TH LIFE OF LOUIS DRAX a rating between MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN and WAIT AND CATCH THIS FILM ON DVD: The casting is superb, proving once again that if you give Jamie Dornan good material, he can and will give you a very good performance. Paul and Gadon are good too in their respective roles, and Aiden Longworth gives a fabulous performance as young Louis as well. I even enjoyed Louis’s psychologist Dr. Perez (played by Oliver Platt) throughout this intriguing tale that makes you totally question what’s real, and what’s not! But, sadly, parts of this film seemed to move so slowly at times, that it takes away from the captivating tale unfolding on screen.  So, if you love intrigue and mystery mixed with a good dose of madness, then you will want to head out to catch THE 9th LIFE OF LOUIS DRAX at a theater near you this weekend. But, if these things aren’t your deal, then you’ll be okay waiting to catch this one on DVD, so you can experience it, and all it’s craziness, in the luxury of your very own home.
