Batten down the hatches boys and girls, as this sequel secured Sean Anders to write and direct this time around, and he is about to take our favorite three-some on the joyride of their lives, and yours too, with his latest film – HORRIBLE BOSSES 2!
Nickkurtdale – a.k.a. Nick (Jason Bateman), Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) & Dale (Charlie Day) are on their way at this point in their lives, having developed THE SHOWER BUDDY – which is going to “CHANGE THE WORLD”.
When the boys are approached by production and marketing genius Rex Hanson (Chris Pine), they figure they have hit pay dirt, as they know Hanson wants to purchase their design. When Rex’s papa Bert (Christoph Waltz) gets wind of what the boys have developed, he decides he will take charge of this transaction and sets them up with an offer “they can’t refuse”.
When it seems that the boys are living the high-life, Bert decides to pull the rug right out from under them, making Nick, Kurt and Dale want to seek revenge on this bastard this time around. Who else could they turn to in their hour of need, as to tell them exactly how to handle this situation, than to Nick’s old boss – now “the jailbird” Harken (Kevin Spacey) and to Dean “MF” Jones (Jamie Foxx), who of course both lead our boys astray…and apparently into the office of the sick and demented old boss of Dale’s, Dr. Julia Harris, D.D.S. (Jennifer Aniston), who apparently is trying to overcome her sex addition…yeah right!
Will our favorite three-some get the revenge they seek on Bert for ruining their lives? Will Rex decide that he wants to be an integral part of taking out of his old man too, because he is such a dough bag? Or will Nick, Kurt and Dale once again find that being mastermind criminals just isn’t in their DNA?
I give HORRIBLE BOSSES 2 a B+: As sequels go, chalk this one up as a MUST SEE, as Bateman, Sudeikis, and Day are even better together this time around. The addition of Chris Pine and Christoph Waltz as the demons also plays out phenomenally well, and the way that Anders managed to write in Spacey. Foxx and Aniston back into their respective roles was sure genius too! Suffice to say that you will laugh your “you know what off” from the first frame to the last and once again, we manage to go to the outer banks of good taste with the sexual connotations and innuendos, and who doesn’t enjoy that. Surprisingly, Day gets the most playtime and storyline, although my heart still belongs to Bateman when it comes to these three talented actors – Sorry Charlie! So, if you enjoyed HORRIBLE BOSSES, or even if you haven’t seen it, it doesn’t matter; you will want to catch HORRIBLE BOSSES 2 at a theater near you this holiday weekend – it will definitely help you forget about how miserable you feel from eating all that food – or if not – it will at least add some joy back into your life after having to spend so much time with all those family members…I’m just sayin…

I loved the first movie, but was curious to see the sequel because sometimes they can be a flop. Jennifer Aniston’s character alone is reason to see this one!
