As we find our heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), she is back home in Sector 12, trying to make the most of her life with her mother, sister Primrose (Willow Shields), and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson).

When President Snow (Donald Sutherland) summons Katniss to inform her that he is on to the little charade her and Petta are playing – they may have convinced everyone else that they are in a relationship – but he isn’t falling for it, and he is watching their every move.

President Snow decides to send the “two love birds” on a world-wide tour – sharing their love, devotion and commitment to the Capital, and to one another, with all of the sectors.

Even though this tour is meant to subdue the rebellion that is brewing, the people are still being defiant.  President Snow sends in his troops to contain and subdue the masses, and when Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) steps in to stop the violence, he is brutally beaten.  Coming to his aid, of course, is Katniss, who stays by his side to aid him in healing his wounds.

Enter President Snow’s new advisor – Plutarch Heavensbee (Phillip Seymour Hoffman), who has come up with an ingenious plan to keep all the sectors and their defiance of the President and the Capital in check – by bringing back the victors of the previous Hunger Games – and having them fight once again – TO THE DEATH!

With this new game put into play – Katniss and Peeta must ready themselves to take on the other victors, so they are joined by their advisors Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) and Cinna (Lenny Kravitz), who are giving them every means possible to convince President Snow that they are in love and committed to one another, as they prepare them for battle.  Now, let the games begin………

Will Katniss and Gale profess their love for one another?  Will Katniss and Peeta both make it out of the Dome alive?  Or will President Snow get his wish and finish them off once and for all?

I give The Hunger Games – Catching Fire a B– :  I must say that I think I enjoyed much of this film significantly more that I enjoyed the first HUNGER GAMES – but I also found myself drowsy through the beginning of it, and wanting to take a little siesta is not normally a good thing when watching a film.  The story line began to pick up about 45 minutes in, so I did wake up to follow along with the increasingly more exciting parts of the film.  I did enjoy seeing everyone reprise their roles, and definitely took a liking to Philip Seymour Hoffman in his role as the new advisor to President Snow.  Plus, even though I am a happily married woman, I was thinking that Jennifer Lawrence was one lucky girl, getting the chance to kiss both Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson as much as she did in this new installment –  All in all – THE HUNGER GAMES – Catching Fire was enjoyable to watch – well most of it anyway – now can we please get on to the Rebellion…….
