Blumhouse’s NEW HORROR FLICK BLACK CHRISTMAS, and will be released on its previously announced date: Friday, December 13, 2019—wide.

Blumhouse, the leading brand in horror, recently took Halloween to that franchise’s highest performance and now returns to another genre classic with an upgrade engineered for today: Black Christmas.

Hawthorne College is quieting down for the holidays. One by one, sorority girls on campus are being killed by an unknown stalker. But the killer is about to discover that this generation’s young women aren’t willing to become hapless victims as they mount a fight to the finish.

This December, on Friday the 13th, ring in the holidays by dreaming of a Black Christmas

From director Sophia Takal (Always Shine) from the script she wrote with April Wolfe (Widower), comes a bold new take on the 1974 horror classic starring Imogen Poots (Green RoomThe Art of Defense), Aleyse Shannon (Charmed), Brittany O’Grady (Star), Lily Donoghue (The GoldbergsJane the Virgin) and Caleb Eberhardt (Broadway’s Choir Boy).

Black Christmas is produced by Jason Blum (HalloweenSplit) for his Blumhouse Productions, by Ben Cosgrove (The Good GermanRumor Has It) and by Adam Hendricks (CamBloodlineLucky) for Divide/Conquer. Hendricks’ partners in Divide/Conquer, Greg Gilreath (CamBloodline) and Zac Locke (Adopt-A-HighwayBloodline), will executive produce.

Review of THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR – Rated PG-13 – 1 hr. 40 mins.

This Review is brought to you by Kathy Kaiser

THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR – Rated PG-13 – 1 hr. 40 mins.

DIRECTOR:  Ry Russo-Young

WRITERS:  Based on a Novel by Nicola Yoon, Tracy Oliver (Screenplay)

STARRING:  Yara Shahidi, Charles Melton, Keong Sim, Jake Choi, Gbenga Akinnagbe, and John Leguizamo

Based on the Novel by Nicola Yoon, we meet soon to be Med student Daniel Bae (Charles Melton) capturing a glance of fellow New Yorker Natasha Kingsley (Yara Shahidi), when he becomes instantly smitten.  Assured that Love-at-first-site is only something that happens in movies ~ and not in real life ~ Natasha isn’t quite to hurried to give Daniel the time of day.   With his convincing demeanor, and gorgeous smile, Daniel finds himself persuading Natasha that there is definitely more to life, than what she is willing to believe.  As their encounter continues, it seems that Daniel’s life goals are shifting with each passing hour, as are Natasha’s hopes that she can continue to live in New York City.  Torn between their new relationship, and the pressures that face them both in this thing we call LIFE, Daniel and Natasha both find that sometimes, one day, is all you need to set your mind free…

I give THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR a rating of WAIT AND CATCH THIS FILM ON DVD or NETFLIX:  Although I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry between Shahidi and Melton throughout, this film definitely lacks depth in its slow-moving storyline, and its lackluster character development throughout too.  Having not read the novel by Nicola Yoon, I can’t say for certain that the book was better than the movie, just like I can’t blame screenwriter Tracy Oliver, for its less than impactful presence on screen. s I must also share that THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR does manage to play out like an homage to one of my favorite cities on this planet – with scene, after scene, after scene of the beauty that makes New York City one of the coolest places in the world.  THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR is one of those films that isn’t bad, it’s just not one of those films that you have to rush out the theater to catch either…leaving me suggest that if you want to catch the adorable Yara Shahidi hand-in-hand with Riverdale, American Horror Story and Glee Alum Charles Melton, you’re more than welcome to head out to a theater near you this weekend, don’t let me hold you back. I am just suggesting that your money might be better spent waiting until THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR hits on DVD or Netflix – or something more intellectually stimulating or exciting hits at the theater in a few weeks…enough said 🙂

Stella Grant (Haley Lu Richardson) is every bit a seventeen-year-old…she’s attached to her laptop and loves her best friends. But unlike most teenagers, she spends much of her time living in a hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient. Her life is full of routines, boundaries and self-control – all of which is put to the test when she meets an impossibly charming fellow CF patient named Will Newman (Cole Sprouse).

There’s an instant flirtation, though restrictions dictate that they must maintain a safe distance between them. As their connection intensifies, so does the temptation to throw the rules out the window and embrace that attraction. Further complicating matters is Will’s potentially dangerous rebellion against his ongoing medical treatment. Stella gradually inspires Will to live life to the fullest, but can she ultimately save the person she loves when even a single touch is off limits?

Check out the NEW POSTERS for PROFESSOR MARSTON & THE WONDER WOMEN – Hits Theaters October 13th

This morning Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall, and Bella Heathcote shared three new posters for PROFESSOR MARSTON & THE WONDER WOMEN!

The film, written and directed by Angela Robinson, is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and will open in theaters on October 13th.

image001 (2) copy 4.png

Release Date: October 13, 2017

Genre: Drama

Director: Angela Robinson

Writer: Angela Robinson

Producers: Amy Redford, Terry Leonard

Cast: Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall, Bella Heathcote, Connie Britton

In a superhero origin tale unlike any other, the film is the incredible true story of what inspired Harvard psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston to create the iconic Wonder Woman character in the 1940’s. While Marston’s feminist superhero was criticized by censors for her ‘sexual perversity’, he was keeping a secret that could have destroyed him. Marston’s muses for the Wonder Woman character were his wife Elizabeth Marston and their lover Olive Byrne, two empowered women who defied convention: working with Marston on human behavior research — while building a hidden life with him that rivaled the greatest of superhero disguises.
