The world’s largest multicultural celebration, Loving Day (www.lovingday.org) is coordinated by the Loving Day Project to remember a love story. For a 13th consecutive year, Loving Day festivities commemorate the June 12th, 1967 anniversary of Loving v. Virginia, the Supreme Court decision that ruled in favor of married couple Richard and Mildred Loving, who got the Court to reaffirm the very foundation of the right to marry.

Focus Features, which will release the new movie Loving this fall, is joining this year’s network of Loving Day celebrations as a day for love and family, coordinated by the Loving Day Project (www.LovingDay.org), and Founder Ken Tanabe. Around the globe, people get engaged, married, or gather with their families to honor and remember two people who paved the way for so many.

Loving (www.lovingthefilm.com), written and directed by Jeff Nichols, tells the story of Richard and Mildred Loving, the real-life couple who inspired Loving Day.  The film centers on the courage and commitment of Richard and Mildred (portrayed in the film by Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), an interracial couple who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. Richard and Mildred’s love story and the landmark case has become an inspiration and a foundation for marriage equality ever since. Focus will release Loving (#ThisIsLoving) in select cities on November 4th and then expand it across the country. Approved photos from the film are available for download at https://rcpt.hightail.com/2968048170/d79242110b2e10c603da043bf5f5b817?cid=tx-02002208350200000000&s=19105.  An approved clip from the film is on view at https://youtu.be/WoKfl8CxzU4.

Loving Day festivities will be in many cities. The flagship celebration in New York City will be the largest event, with approximately 1,000 guests expected, and will be held on Saturday, June 11th from 3:00-7:00 PM (rain date, Sunday, June 12th) at Solar 1, on the East River waterfront. Thousands of supporters will participate in additional celebrations both large and intimate across the country and globally. In Los Angeles, the Mixed Remixed Festival – Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th – offers a film/book/media festival at the Japanese American National Museum. In Washington, DC, Loving Day will be commemorated at Mulebone Restaurant. Celebrations are also planned for Philadelphia, PA; Birmingham, AL; Grand Rapids, MI; Burlington, VT; Decatur, GA; Griffin, GA; and Federal Way, WA.

For Loving Day and beyond, Focus is inviting couples and families to share their stories and photos on social media (Twitter: @LovingTheFilm; Facebook: LovingTheFilm; Instagram: LovingTheFilm) in celebration of Loving Day and to honor Richard and Mildred.

Mr. Tanabe commented, “We are inspired by the thousands of people worldwide who celebrate Loving Day. It’s all in the name of Richard and Mildred Loving, a brave couple who paved the way for future generations. Their love and commitment to each other continues to set the example. When we honor the landmark Loving decision on Loving Day, it’s a reminder to everyone that love wins.”

About The Loving Day Project

The Loving Day Project (www.LovingDay.org) helps to effect annual celebrations that commemorate the June 12th anniversary of Loving v. Virginia (1967), the Supreme Court decision that declared all laws against interracial marriage in the United States to be unconstitutional. Loving Day is celebrated in cities nationwide and internationally, collectively forming the world’s largest network of multiethnic community celebrations. Its mission is to fight racial prejudice through education and to build multiethnic community. Its vision is to create an annual tradition that will make the Loving case a universally recognized civil rights landmark. Ken Tanabe is Founder, and President, of the Loving Day Project.

PIXAR ANIMATION, THE WALT DISNEY STUDIOS AND DISNEY PARKS DECLARE JUNE 11 “SPEAK LIKE A WHALE DAY”

As “Finding Dory” Swims Toward Opening Day on June 17, Fans Nationwide Invited to Speak Whale Like the Famous Forgetful Blue Tang Dory and Her Friends

“The secret to speaking whale is making the words as long and ridiculous as possible. That’s how all whales talk, right?”

~Kaitlin Olson, voice of Destiny, who speaks whale and offers guidance in this Speak Like a Whale Featurette.

BURBANK, Calif. (Wednesday, May 25, 2016) – Ever since the friendly, but forgetful blue tang Dory insisted she could speak whale, moviegoers have wondered: Can she really speak whale? How did she learn? Can I do it, too? Fans nationwide are invited to celebrate Dory’s unforgettable spirit and her can-do attitude with Speak Like a Whale Day onSaturday, June 11, 2016.

“When ‘Finding Dory’ was just starting to come together, we realized we didn’t know much about this blue tang with the sunny personality,” said director Andrew Stanton. “Dory’s past became the subject of great curiosity—both for us as storytellers and for everyone who’d fallen in love with her.

“We had very few clues to go on,” continued Stanton. “We knew she’d been separated from her family, we knew she suffered from short-term memory loss, we knew she could read, and we knew she could speak whale—or at least she thought she could.”

Opening in theaters nationwide on June 17, “Finding Dory” features a fun and talented voice cast, including Ellen DeGeneres as Dory, Albert Brooks as Marlin, Ed O’Neill as “septopus” Hank, Kaitlin Olson as whale shark Destiny and Ty Burrell as beluga whale Bailey. Olson, who can be heard speaking whale in the movie, teamed up with Burrell to share a few tricks in a Speak Like a Whale Featurette.

Fans are encouraged to take part in Speak Like a Whale Day by speaking whale wherever they go, uploading videos of themselves and tagging #SpeakLikeAWhaleDay.

News about the Manchester Orchestra scored soundtrack coming soon!

Starring Paul Dano, Daniel Radcliffe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Directed and written by Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert)

Outrageously fun and deeply affecting, Swiss Army Man is a gonzo buddy comedy that is the feature film debut of acclaimed music video directors Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan (collectively known as DANIELS, and responsible for the visionary “Turn Down For What” video, among many others). Bursting with limitless creativity in both form and content, Swiss Army Man goes from the absurd to the emotional to the whimsical to the profound and back again.

Hank (Paul Dano) is stranded on a deserted island, having given up all hope of ever making it home again.  But one day everything changes when a corpse named Manny (Daniel Radcliffe) washes up on shore; the two become fast friends, and ultimately go on an epic adventure that will bring Hank back to the woman of his dreams.

Swiss Army Man creates a world like no other—a place of pure fantastical imagination, brimming with magical realism yet featuring two characters whose dreams and fears are entirely relatable. Dano and Radcliffe both fully commit to their directors’ audacious vision, and their work is exceptional, finding the perfect balance of humor and heart that drives the whole film.  A celebration of all the wonders cinema has to offer, Swiss Army Man is a cultural phenomenon in the making; a surreal and wholly original examination of human vulnerability and connection that must be experienced.

So eff it. No one’s perfect so give up the guilt and be a “bad mom” for a minute. Do a little something for yourself: ditch the PTA and get an ETA on your next massage. Swap the Happy Meal with Happy Hour and down a shot or two. Skip the bedtime story and whip out 50 Shades of Grey. Share your funniest #BadMomMoment for a chance to win BIG.

Watch the exclusive launch of the BAD MOMS trailer starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Anie Mumolo, Jada Pinkett Smith, Christina Applegate!
