SPOILERS MAY FOLLOW

Romantic movies like FIVE FEET APART don’t really do anything for me.  I don’t get excited to watch them and I definitely don’t believe them when they are about 18-year old’s that have “never experienced” love before because…lean in for this one because I’m going to whisper a secret to you…BECAUSE YOU’RE 18 YEARS OLD AND YOU’RE TOO YOUNG TO KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!!!  Lol. Can you tell I’ve been burned by love before? And what is this new fascination with telling stories where someone ends up dying in the end? What happened to the stories where they live happily ever after. I swear, you go into these movies and right away you say, “well she’s going to die” or “is that the best friend?  Yep, he’s dead”. The only romantic movies these days that no one kicks the bucket are the ROMCOM’s starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. FIVE FEET APART was your typical lovey dovey movie where the outgoing girl meets the gloomy loner guy and at first they don’t like each other, at least not until they reallllllllly get to know the real person inside that’s been hiding from the world, then they fall hopelessly in love, only to have that love tested by one of them thinking they don’t deserve that love – but in all actuality…THEY DO!, so now they must move past any obstacles (usually it’s an unapproving dad that hates their relationship) for that one romantic tear jerking kiss telling the audience that this isn’t just a one and done relationship and that true love does exist!….you know that old chestnut…sigh & a single tear is now rolling down my cheek.  So, if you enjoy movies like what I just rambled on about then FIVE FEET APART is right up your alley, but if you’re like me (cynical and tired of the same old love stories) then just wait to watch this one at home on the couch with your one real true love – pajamas and a pint of Haagen-Dazs Double Chocolate Chip. Until next time, thanks for reading.

P.S. – There is no post credit scene, but here is a FUN FACT.  Cole Sprouse (the lead actor in FIVE FEET APART) played the kid in BIG DADDY, THE ASTRONAUT’S WIFE and was Ross’s son on FRIENDS.  He’s also a twin.
