Hold on to your long lovely locks there, you Marvel loving movie viewers, as we are about to embark into unchartered territory, with the mighty THOR (Chris Hemsworth) attempting to save Asgard, and its people, from the great demise planned by his incredibly ruthless and evil older sister Hela (Cate Blanchett).
When Thor is cast away to another foreign land, mastered by its own powerful ruler Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum)l Thor finds himself in battle against this lands mightiest of champions, the all powerful, and green, HULK (Mark Ruffalo).
As the fates are changing faster than can you orchestrate a bad joke…Thor, Loki, Hulk and new friend Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), return to Asgard, as they try to rid this world of Hela, and her hellish ways… but it seems to defeat this ultimate “goddess of death”, Asgard, and its people, our heroes are going tot have to enlist the powers of someone far greater than themselves… to finally take this bitch out!!!
I give THOR: RAGNAROK a rating between MUST SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN & WAIT AND CATCH THIS FILM ON DVD: Don’t get me wrong ~ Hemsworth is super sexy no matter what length his blond locks are throughout this film…but between the totally forced comedy, and the trivial subplots intertwined within Marvel’s next installment, I ended up not being as enamored with this Thor film, as I was with its two predecessors. This film also feels like they are pushing way to hard to keep each of the characters within relevant, including Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), or course, besides Thor…even with the “I’m going to try to be good…or maybe not storyline for Loki…I mean, come on, are him and Thor really ever going to bury the hatchet?? Now, before all you Comic book studying fans out there come for my jugular regarding my less than perfect review of this film, know that I see these films as a clean slate – not knowing what has all transpired for years in comic books, allowing for my interpretive powers to be unleashed, as I view these characters ~ not knowing any of their backgrounds ~ except for what I have experienced from their previous endeavors on the big screen. So, with that said, from my perspective, THOR: RAGNAROK was entertaining for sure, just not as spectacular as I had hoped it would be. And I truly felt that if they would have cut back on the some of forced comedy throughout, and super cheesy dialogue, I might have given this film a higher rating. I mean, I did enjoy seeing Hemsworth back on the big screen, and making his way around the universe once again as the ultimate God-like Superhero, with or without his hammer, but I think that as a whole, a lot of this film came across as “just average”. Thus, leaving me to suggest that if you aren’t a Marvel loving movie goer like three-quarters of the world apparently is, you might want to consider catching Thor and the gang at home on your DVD player, after the 1st of year….
